Welcome to the Garrad Garrard Garrod Garrett
Family Reunion 17 October 2026

Honouring the Australian descendants of John Garrard and Mary Cross. Six descendants who made history as they built new lives for themselves in Australia.

16 October 2026 marks the 200th anniversary of the marriage of Robert Garrad and Sarah Taylor at St Lukes Anglican Church Liverpool.

To celebrate this milestone anniversary, we are holding a reunion of Garrads, Garrards, Garrods and Garretts who have their ancestral origins in Wickham Skeith, Suffolk, England.

The reunion will be held in Milton-Ulladulla where direct descendants of Robert and Sarah are still farming "Wickham Hill", the same property that Robert was farming as early as 1830.

We have chosen the Mollymook Surf Club, Ocean St, Mollymook to host our reunion. The Main Programme will run from 10 am to 3 pm. We will be seeking help from a few volunteers to help us set up the venue from 8 am on Saturday October 17 and to pack down in the afternoon between 3 pm and 4 pm.

Previously we had considered including a catered lunch. However, the help with logistics and to keep individual costs to a minimum, the move to the Mollymook Surf Club provides us with a number of food and beverage options within a few minutes easy walk; the nearby Beach Hut Cafe and the Mollymook Golf Club (with both a bistro and the Salt and Spencer Restaurant).

The Mollymook Surf Club also has kitchen facilities which will be avaiable for the preparation of light meals and refresments should you wish to take advantage of this facility,

A series of presentations and information sessions will be held throughout the day, combined with displays of historic photographs and family memorabilia with plenty of time to allow you to catch up with your many cousins, old and new.

There will also be opportunities to visit "Wickham Hill", a working dairy farm operated by Barney and Janine Anderson and their family, and to visit the local cemetries in the area which contain the last resting place of many of our ancestors.

The cemetery behind the old Methodist Church in Croobyar Road contains the well preserved headstone of Robert Garrad ans his wife Sarah (nee Taylor).

Sandridge Cemetery, a few minutes walk from the Surf Club, is the last resting place of many of our early ancestors.

There are also a number of historic houses in the area which have had connections to the Garrad family. There are probably very few people with a family history of over 100 years in the district that are not related in some way to the Garrad families.

Whilst it will be possible to enjoy the formal activities in the one day, the Milton-Ulladulla area has much to offer in the way of cafes, restaurants and other activities. There is also a wide range of accommodation available, from camping to luxury five star. Why not plan to make a weekend of it and catch up many of those relatives you have not seen for many a year? Might be a good idea to think your accommodation now.
