Jane Durrant and Kathleen Durrant Chambers

Jane Durrant was the Great Grandughter of John Garrard who had been transported to Tasmania in 1814. Before geing sent to Australia, John had been married to Ann Fulcher; John (1809-1890) and Thomas (1813-1856).

John married Hannah Knot and they had 5 children, one of them a daughter, Ruth, born in 1855. Ruth married Ephraim Durrant, in Hartismere, Suffolk in April 1881 and their daughter, Jane Durrant, was born in Suffolk in 1892. Jane married Frederick Chambers in April 1917.

Together with their infant daughter, Kathleen Durrant Chambers, they emigrated to Australia in 1919 settling in Heidelberg in Melbourne. They added to their family with a further four children born in Melbourne. Kathleen celebrated her first birthday in Cape Town on their way to Australia.

Kathleen Durrant Chambers married three times, Firstly to Albert Gordon Judd with the union providing three children, Valerie, Bruce and Janice. Secondly to Leslie Vance in 1948 producing two boys, Leslie and Terry. Finally she married William John Holt in 1964.

Kathleen passed away in Tallangatta, Victoria at the age of 102, having outlived her three husbands and the three childen from her first marriage.
